I Diggory Venn, am a man of many trades. Although you see me first and foremost as the reddleman from my stained skin tones, I am more. I am a man of dignity and honor. My homeland is my beloved Egdon Heath. I could stand and look out among the rolling hills for hours and feel the breeze rush across my skin, but I never encounter myself with much down time. Many would say "His occupation tended to isolate him." (133) But I really don't mind because between my daily work and my keeping up with family and friends I find myself always on the go. I am not married, nor engaged, but I do hope to be one day. I have had a strong, undying love for a dear childhood friend of mine. She is beautiful and full of life and although she now belongs to another man, I wish only the best for her. I want her to be filled with happiness and joy, but since I cannot provide that to her I will just have to hope for the best from afar. If she only knew...besides her though. I am on a journey. A journey to find a new destination, to find where I truly belong to. The difficult thing is though, that every time I depart from the Heath, the only thing I want more is to be back. It is my home. It is my upbringing, my start, and the story of my life.
"His figure was perfect, his face young and well out-lined, his eye bright, his intelligence keen, and his position one which he could readily better if he chose."
